Vacation Days (Day 2)

I awoke to this directly above my head. This is Jerry Jeff Garcia Van Zandt Kalthoff…or Jerrah.

Then I looked to my left, and saw the Puggle Joy.

Day 2 is starting out just fine, if not a bit ridiculously adorable.

Tonight it’s Connie’s Famous (and award winning) Fried Chicken, along with going through as many vinyl records as I possibly can (there are so many! I can’t wait!)

…Some time, and a couple glasses of whiskey later…

Nobody beats Connie’s Famous Fried Chicken.

Well, that was damn delicious.

We then went through a small stack of records, listening to what felt right at the time. That led to singing Jerry Jeff Walker, Townes Van Zandt, Jimmy Buffett and Jesse Winchester songs until we couldn’t take it anymore…(the latter two performed by your’s truly after everyone went to bed…in fact…it’s happening right now.)

Singer/Songwriter Day

I spent the majority of today organizing, sleeving, and playing records. I was in a very chill mood, so I went with the “Singer/Songwriter” theme. I started the day with Townes Van Zandt’s “Live at the Old Quarter, Houston, Texas”, then moved onto Jerry Jeff Walker’s “Driftin’ Way of Life”. My natural progression from Jerry Jeff was Ian and Sylvia’s “Nashville”, followed strongly by John Prine’s “Prime Prine”. ┬áRyan Adams’s breakout solo effort, “Heartbreaker” rounded the day off, as it was time to go eat ribs with some friends. Needless to say, it was a hell of a good day of music, and the ribs were pretty damn good, as well. I highly suggest all of these albums, and even more highly suggest you purchase them on vinyl for your listening enjoyment.
